Observation Narrative
This small (300 - 400 sq. m) opening was sampled to capture unusually high density of Decodon verticillatus. The opening is located along a drainage channel that runs through an extensive marsh dominated by Zizania aquatica and is adjacent to a tidal flat containing Nuphar advena that borders a tributary of Clayborne Creek. Murdannia keisak dominates the ground layer. The ground surface is somewhat uneven. Some hummock-and-hollow microtopography is evident, although this pattern is likely more apparent than real, as Murdannia biomass tends to accumulate around the bases of Zizania clumps.
